Willie Alvarenga, Director & Instructor Spanish Department

Brother Willie Alvarenga was born  in San Salvador, El Salvador, Central America.  At the age of 15, he moved to Dallas, Texas where he attended Thomas Jefferson Rusk Middle School and W.T. White High School.  He then moved to Garland, Texas where he graduated from South Garland High School in 1995.  After graduation from High School, Willie worked for 4 years as an Auto-Pain Technician (I-Car certified).  Then, in 2000, he commenced his studies at the Brown Trail School of Preaching, graduating in December of 2001.  After graduation from Brown Trail, Willie preached 5 years for the Central church of Christ, Spanish congregation in Lufkin, Texas, where he also did radio work for 3 years.  Willie received his BA & MA  in Biblical Studies from the Theological University of America.  He is currently studying at the Heritage Christian University (Florence, AL)  where he hopes to receive his BA in Biblical Studies. At the present time, brother Alvarenga serves as Director and Instructor for the Brown Trail School of Preaching, Spanish Department.  Willie conducts several meetings in English as well as in Spanish.  He is the editor for the monthly publication “Instruyendo A La Hermandad” (Instructing The Brotherhood).  He has worked with The Gospel of Christ Ministry, as well as The Gospel Broadcasting Network.  He also maintains a blog where most of his commentaries, and study notes are made available to the brethren (www.willie75.wordpress.com). Brother Alvarenga also directs the annual Spanish lectureships of the Schol of Preaching. He is also the editor for two lectureship books in the brotherhood. Willie and his wife Lucy have two daughters (Maggie, 14 & Vanessa, 10).  His book, “Memorizing The Scriptures” is recommended to those who enjoy memorizing Bible Scriptures. Finally, brother Willie is also involved with the Spanish Internet Radio Station, Una Sola Fe. Obed Rodriguez, Instructor

Brother Obed Rodriguez was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, July 4, 1977.  His father Marcelino Rodriguez has preached the gospel more than 40 years.  He attended Middle School in San Luis Potosi.  Years later, he moved to Mt. Pleasant, Texas, where he graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1998.  He has taught classes to young and adults.  He is married to Victoria.  Both of them have 1 daughter, Laura who is 9.  He then moved to Bedford, Texas to attend the Brown Trail School of Preaching where he graduated in 2001.  He has conducted meetings in Mexico, as well as Texas. He has served as an instructor for the Spanish Department since 2004.  At the present time, he also preaches for the Everman church of Christ, Spanish congregation.  He also serves as the Director for the Public Library in Everman, Texas.

Jesus Martinez, Full Time Instructor

Brother Jesus Martinez was born in Cd. Juarez Chi. In 1970.  He came to the States in 1980, and, in 1991, he obeyed the gospel in Fort Worth, Texas.  Brother Martinez has been helping the Lincoln Avenue Iglesia de Cristo (Church of Christ) in Fort Worth, Texas where he has taught classes to the young people, as well as the adult classes.  Brother Martinez attended the Pan-American Bible Institute in Dallas, Texas for a year and a half.  Then, he attended the Brown Trail School of Preaching in 2002, graduating from the school in 2003.  He is married to Susana Martinez with whom he has been married for 22 years.  Both of them have one daughter, Sandy who is 21, and one son, Jesse, who is 15 years old.
